Steve has been Chief Executive Officer of Hill Physicians Medical Group since he helped organize it in 1984. Hill is the largest Independent Practice Association in the country and one of the largest medical groups in California with 2,500 participating physicians, 20 affiliated hospitals, and 360,000 enrollees. Hill is consistently among California’s ‘Top Performing” medical groups. Steve is Chair/President of PriMed which manages Hill Physicians. He also helped create the Integrated Healthcare Association, a unique organization of multi-disciplinary, high level executives. As IHA’s chair, Steve spearheaded the successful statewide Pay for Performance program and continues his involvement as Chair of IHA’s Pay for Performance Executive Committee and as a member of the IHA board. He also serves on the board of the California Association of Physician Groups. Prior to developing Hill Physicians, Steve was CEO of MedAmerica, which organized and managed hospital-based physicians in six states including California Emergency Physicians. He also served as Executive Director of the Bay Area Emergency Medical System from 1973-1976, successfully implementing the paramedic systems in the nine Bay Area counties. He has a B.S. in Business, Providence College (1969), and Master’s in Health Care Administration, George Washington University (1971).
